Day 8 Opening Prayer
Brilliant Aurora of Heaven, lovable Mary, your birth brought great consolation to the souls of the saints detained in limbo, for it announced the approach of the Sun of Justice, Jesus Christ, who would enlighten their darkness and then conduct them to paradise. May your birth give joy to my soul also, and obtain for me from God, patience in all adversities, a perfect and constant conformity to His most holy will. Dearest Mother, please pray for me and for these my intentions… (State your intentions). Amen
“Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman, robed with the sun, standing on the moon, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant, and in labour, crying aloud in the pangs of childbirth. Then a second sign appeared in the sky: there was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and each of the seven heads crowned with a coronet. Its tail swept a third of the stars from the sky and hurled them to the ground, and the dragon stopped in front of the woman as she was at the point of giving birth, so that it could eat the child as soon as it was born. The woman was delivered of a boy, the son who was to rule all the nations with an iron sceptre, and the child was taken straight up to God and to his throne, while the woman escaped into the desert, where God had prepared a place for her to be looked after for twelve hundred and sixty days.” (Revelation 12:1-6)
Pause for a moment…
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Oh, Blessed Virgin Mary! Chosen and destined by the majestic Trinity to be the Mother of the only begotten Son of the Father, announced by the prophets, expected from the Patriarchs, and desired by all people; Tabernacle and living Temple of the Holy Spirit, Sun without spot, because you were conceived without original sin, Lady of heaven and earth, Queen of angels; we humbly come before you, and rejoice in the solemn annual celebration of your joyful birth; and from the depths of our hearts, we beseech you to be graciously born spiritually in our souls, so that we may be captivated by your love and sweetness, may we always remain united to your so sweet and loving heart.
Today, we beseech your maternal intercession on behalf of our dear Mother Church which spreads throughout the world, under the visible care of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, whom your beloved Son has chosen as His Vicar and chief Shepherd to preside over His Church. We beg You to grant him a spirit of courage and right judgement, a spirit of knowledge and love to guide his flock with love and watchful care, especially for the sick, the poor and the vulnerable. Help him edify, both by word and example, those over whom he has charge, that he may reach everlasting life together with the flock entrusted to him, building God’s church into a sacrament of unity, love, and peace for all the world.
Our Father…10 Hail Marys…Glory be…
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
