NOVENA FOR THE NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY: DAY 9 (For all Priests and Religious)

IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, AND OF THE SON, AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. AMEN

V. O God, come to my aid +
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Day 9 Opening Prayer

Mediatrix of graces, admirable Mary, by your birth you perfected the joy of all the children of Adam, who, through you, have received the Author of Grace, for He has made you the treasurer of all the graces which are imparted to us. May your birth be a special cause of joy to my soul by obtaining for me from God, eternal salvation and all the graces necessary to obtain it. Dearest Mother, please pray for me and for these my intentions… (State your intentions). Amen

Scriptural Meditation

“And Mary said: ‘My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour; because he has looked upon the humiliation of his servant. Yes, from now onwards all generations will call me blessed, for the Almighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name, and his faithful love extends age after age to those who fear him. He has used the power of his arm, he has routed the arrogant of heart. He has pulled down princes from their thrones and raised high the lowly. He has filled the starving with good things, sent the rich away empty. He has come to the help of Israel his servant, mindful of his faithful love according to the promise he made to our ancestors — of his mercy to Abraham and to his descendants forever.'” (Luke 1:46-55)

Pause for a moment…

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Prayer

Oh, Blessed Virgin Mary! Chosen and destined by the majestic Trinity to be the Mother of the only begotten Son of the Father, announced by the prophets, expected from the Patriarchs, and desired by all people; Tabernacle and living Temple of the Holy Spirit, Sun without spot, because you were conceived without original sin, Lady of heaven and earth, Queen of angels; we humbly come before you, and rejoice in the solemn annual celebration of your joyful birth; and from the depths of our hearts, we beseech you to be graciously born spiritually in our souls, so that we may be captivated by your love and sweetness, may we always remain united to your so sweet and loving heart.

Today, we beseech thy maternal intercession for all Priests and Religious all over the world. Grant them the grace of perseverance as they follow Christ more closely by living out the gospel values. May they be continually blessed as they minister and bless the people of God in their various apostolates. Fill them with the spirit of wisdom and strength, and protect them physically and spiritually. May they continually grow in discernment and love, following the example of our Lord and Saviour, as One who did not come to be served but to serve. O dearest Mother, through your prayers and intercessions, may they never waver in faith, and may your presence be with them throughout their life’s journey on earth, in order that they may attain the everlasting joys of heaven at the end of their lives.

Our Father…10 Hail Marys…Glory be…

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

FINAL ANTHEM TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

1. Ave, Maria! O Maiden, O Mother,”
proudly thy children are calling on thee!
Thine are the graces unclaimed by another,
Sinless and beautiful, star of the sea!

Chorus:
Mater amabilis, ora pro nobis!
Pray for thy children who call upon thee;
Ave, sanctissima! Ave, purissima!
Sinless and beautiful, star of the sea!

2. Ave, Maria! thy children are kneeling,
words of endearment are murmured to thee;
softly thy spirit upon us is stealing,
Sinless and beautiful, star of the sea!

3. Ave, Maria! thou portal of heaven,
harbour of refuge, to thee, do we flee;
lost in the darkness, by stormy winds driven,
Sinless and beautiful, star of the sea!
