EFFECTIVE NOVENA TO THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS: DAY 3

Opening Prayer:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father, as we embark on the third day of our novena to the Guardian Angels, we seek their continued guidance and intercession in our lives. May their presence be a source of comfort and strength. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scriptural Reading and Meditation:
Read and meditate on Exodus 23:20-23:

“20 See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. 22 If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. 23 My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.”

Imagine the scene as the people of Israel are on their journey, and God promises to send an angel ahead of them for guidance and protection. Now, place yourself in the same scene journeying through life, and hear the Word of God being addressed to you that an angel would be before you, to light and guide, to rule and guard, and to lead you safely to your goals, protecting you from your enemies in all your ways. Here are some reflections to consider:

1. 1. Guardian Angels as Divine Messengers: The angel mentioned in this passage is seen as a divine messenger sent by God to accompany and protect His people. Visualize your own Guardian Angel as a divine messenger who walks alongside you on your life’s journey.
   2. Pay Attention and Listen: God instructs His people to “pay attention to him and listen to what he says.” Reflect on the importance of attentiveness to the guidance provided by your Guardian Angel. How can you be more receptive to their guidance in your daily life?
   3. Obedience and Rebellion: Notice how God warns against rebellion. Consider the significance of obedience in your relationship with your Guardian Angel. When you follow their guidance, you are aligning yourself with God’s plan for your life.
   4. Divine Protection: God’s promise to be an enemy to their enemies and oppose those who oppose them is a reminder of the protective role of Guardian Angels. Imagine your Guardian Angel standing as a shield between you and spiritual adversaries.
   5. Guidance to the Promised Land: Just as the angel led the people of Israel to the Promised Land, your Guardian Angel is guiding you toward your spiritual journey’s destination, which is closer communion with God.

As you meditate on this verse, take a moment to express your gratitude for the guidance and protection of your Guardian Angel. Consider how you can be more obedient and attentive to their guidance in your life, trusting that they are leading you on the path that God has prepared for you. (Now, if you have just ONE favour per day to ask your guardian angel, what would that be? ASK him! JUST ONE…)

Holy Guardian Angels, protectors of our souls, Pray for us
Faithful companions on our earthly journey, Pray for us
Guiding us with wisdom and love, Pray for us
Interceding for us before the throne of God, Pray for us
Defenders against the snares of the enemy, Pray for us
Comforters in times of fear and doubt, Pray for us
Bringing us God’s messages and inspirations, Pray for us
Leading us closer to Jesus, Pray for us
Watching over us day and night, Pray for us

My dear guardian angel, help us to recognize your presence and guidance in our lives. Amen

Improving Our Closeness and Friendship with Our Guardian Angels:
Take a moment to reflect on how you can improve your relationship with your Guardian Angel. Consider how you can be more aware of their presence and guidance in your daily life. This may include praying to them more frequently, asking for their help in specific situations, or simply acknowledging their presence with gratitude. In this very context, utilize this moment to thank your guardian angel for offering that ONE petition you asked him to God. Thank him for interceding for you as your closest friend. Thank God in faith for the answered prayer, and believing God for your testimonies.

Angel of God, my Guardian dear,
To whom God’s love commits me here,
Ever this day/night be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Concluding Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we conclude this third day of our novena, we thank you for the promise of your angel to guide and guard us. May we be attentive and obedient to their guidance in our lives. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Even if I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, the Lord is with me, He has sent my guardian angel to minister, guard, and protect me…
