NOVENA FOR THE NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY: DAY 6 (For expectant/pregnant mothers)

MORNING PRAYERS

V. O God, come to my aid+
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Hymn

Mother dearest, Mother fairest,
Help of all, who call on thee.
Virgin purest, brightest, rarest,
Help us, help, we cry to thee.

Lady, help in pain and sorrow,
Soothe those racked on beds of pain,
May the golden light of morrow,
Bring them health and joy again.

Lady, help the absent loved ones.
How we miss their presence here.
May the hand of Thy protection
Guide and guard them far and near.

Mary, help us, help we pray.
Mary, help us, help we pray.
Help us in all care and sorrow.
Mary, help us, help we pray.

Scriptural Meditation

Read the following passage and meditate gently on it
Isaiah 7:14-15

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Prayer
Oh, Blessed Virgin Mary! Chosen and destined by the majestic Trinity to be the Mother of the only begotten Son of the Father, announced by the prophets, expected from the Patriarchs, and desired by all people; Tabernacle and living Temple of the Holy Spirit, Sun without spot, because you were conceived without original sin, Lady of heaven and earth, Queen of angels; we humbly come before you, and rejoice in the solemn annual celebration of your joyful birth; and from the depths of our hearts, we beseech you to be graciously born spiritually in our souls, so that we may be captivated by your love and sweetness, may we always remain united to your so sweet and loving heart.

Today, we beseech your maternal intercession on behalf of all expectant (pregnant) mothers and those presently in labour (mention the names of those you wish to pray for). O blessed Mother, assist them as they prepare to give birth to the respective child in their wombs. Watch over them, be their guide and support, calming their fears and strengthening their love. Grant them confidence and strength to dispel their anxiety and fear. Let your gentle hand, like that of a skilled physician, aid their delivery, bringing their offsprings safe and sound to the light of day. May their respective child live to be reborn in holy baptism, and continuing always in your service, be found worthy of attaining everlasting life; through Christ our Lord.

Our Father…10 Hail Marys…(State your private intentions)…Glory be…

The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God;
despise not our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

May the Divine assistance remain always with us, and may the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.

Let us pray.
Grant that we, your servants, Lord
may enjoy unfailing health of mind and body,
and through the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary in her glory
free us from our sorrows in this world
and give us eternal happiness in the next.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessing+
May the Lord bless + us, and keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.

(If possible, kindly accompany this novena with the Holy Rosary at any hour of the day, either 5 or 10 or 15 or 20 decades…)

NIGHT PRAYERS

V. O God, come to my aid
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
R. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Examination of conscience
(This is an excellent opportunity to examine one’s way of life throughout the course of the day for about 2 minutes)

You were sent to heal the contrite of heart, Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
You came to call sinners: Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us: Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

May almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Amen.

Hymn

Bring flow’rs of the fairest, bring flow’rs of the rarest,
From garden and woodland and hillside and vale.
Our full hearts are swelling, our glad voices telling
The praise of the loveliest, Rose of the vale.

Our voices ascending, in harmony blending.
Oh! thus may our hearts turn dear Mother, to thee.
Oh! thus shall we prove thee how truly we love thee,
How dark without Mary life’s journey would be.

O Virgin most tender, our homage we render.
Thy love and protection, sweet Mother, to win.
In danger defend us, in sorrow befriend us,
And shield our hearts from contagion and sin.

(By the ‘little angels of Mary’ group)

Scriptural Meditation
Read the following passage and meditate gently on it:
Gal. 4:4

Our Father…3 Hail Marys… Glory be… (For the intentions of the Holy Father, Pope Francis; and for peace in Nigeria, especially the incessant killings in Southern Kaduna)

We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God;
despise not our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

May the Divine assistance remain always with us, and may the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.

Blessing+
The Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.
Amen.

Final Anthem to the Blessed Virgin Mary

There is no saint like thee;
There is no angel as holy as thee;
Neither is there anyone here on earth be thought of;
For you are the most blessed among all women;
Oh, Immaculate Mother;
Grant us the grace that radiates from your throne of holiness;
and bless our night with your peace. Amen.
